Year 8 Pupils Explore History and Maths at Chislehurst Caves

As part of our Year 8 maths curriculum this half term, pupils recently enjoyed an exciting educational trip to Chislehurst Caves. The visit provided a unique opportunity for pupils to apply their numeracy skills in a real-world setting while learning about a fascinating piece of local history.

During the trip, students took part in a guided tour of the caves, learning about their construction, historical significance, and use as an air raid shelter during World War II. Along the way, they tackled a range of mathematical challenges—calculating distances, estimating depths, and working with large numbers—all designed to reinforce classroom learning in a practical and engaging way.

It was a memorable day that combined learning and adventure, and we’re proud of how our students represented the school. A big thank you to the staff who organised the visit and supported the students throughout the day.
